Roy Price Memorial Run 2025 – Ride-Out Report

Date: Monday, 26th May 2025
Route: Carmarthen → Elan Valley → Aberaeron
Organiser: Bryan Davies

Despite the classic Welsh weather making its presence known, our fifth Roy Price Memorial Run was a fantastic day out, filled with great company, laughter, and miles of scenic riding through some of Wales’ most breathtaking landscapes.

We had a strong turnout of nine bikes, including two pillions, and spirits were high from start to finish. The group set off from Morrisons Café in Carmarthen, picking up additional members at Llandovery, before heading north to the Elan Valley, following a stunning and thoughtfully planned route.

The weather held off nicely until we reached the Elan Valley — after that, the rain set in and didn’t let up! But that didn’t dampen the mood. As Mark Charlton put it, it was “sunny in spirit and company despite what my old neighbour Myfanwy would’ve called ‘proper Pembroke weather’.”

We stopped for a welcome lunch break at Holt Services, near Rhayader — a chance to fuel both bikes and riders. In the afternoon, we continued through the misty beauty of Cwm Ystwyth, eventually arriving in Aberaeron, where we finished the day with a warm afternoon tea and plenty of shared stories.

While the visit to Nant Gwyllt Church didn’t quite go to plan (blame visibility and soggy helmets), it remains firmly on the list for a return trip. As Elly Morgan joked, “We’ll just have to go that way again and visit the little church next time!

From all accounts, the route was a hit — thanks to Bryan Davies, who scouted and led the day. One or two of us might’ve missed a stop (Bryan’s already planning to stand in the middle of the road next time!), but all made it home safe and soaked — and smiling.

Thank you Bryan Davies for today. Only 1 toe got wet 🤣. Looking forward to the next ride in June.

Fantastic route, great company – who cares about the rain?

Mileage:
Approximately 127 miles for the route itself, but many clocked up far more — 220 miles door to door for Bryan, and even more for our dedicated members from Pembrokeshire.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for another memorable Roy Price Memorial Run. Here’s to keeping the spirit of Roy alive on two (or four!) wheels, rain or shine.

We’ll see you all again in June for the next ride!
